Hello,

what is your general recomendation for a receipe for L1 and EK43?

1. Basket used (VST,IMS). How much coffee in which basket.

2. Typical brew ratio

3. Time: preinfusion, brew time (without the preinfusion)

18g VST basket.

anywhere between 16.5 and 17g in. Normally aim for about 40g out as a starting point.

Nortmally wait 8s for preinfusion and output time about 25 - 40s on top of preinfusion.

Adjust to taste!

Thank you for your comments.

MarkyP: up to 40s on top of preinfusion? Can you suggest the beans? It seems to me that best time on top of preinfusion is somewhere in between 20-25s. I ussualy dose:

19g in VST20 for ratio 1:2 - 1:2.3

16.5g in VST18 for ratios around 1:2.5

13g in VST15 for ratios up to 1:3

it really does depend on the coffee... You start by fixing your dose and home in on the best ratio, then adjust grind to fine-tune. There is no 'recipe' just a process to find the best recipe for you and a particular bean.

Is there someone else who could suggest some recipes?

What about the last redbrick?
"

We would recommend the following recipe as a starting point:

Dose: 19 grams

Brew temperature: 201ºF-202ºF/94ºC-94.5ºC

Brew time: 28-30 sec

Total Volume: approx 50ml

Brew weight: 36-38 g

The recommended baskets for this espresso recipe are the VST 20g."

mazi think of your question along the same lines as asking 'Can anyone give me a recipe for a cake'. It varies from bean to bean and there is no one recipe that works for everything. As Marky and Boots have said, you can establish a common starting point and adjust from their based on taste until you find what works best for you. No easy shortcuts unfortunately.
