I have the Amir scales which seem to be a pretty popular choice on here so....

instructions say to change the auto time off function do the following.

To adjust the idle time for the auto off function

1. When the scale is turned off, press and hold "M" key, at the same time, press "ON/OFF" key for 4 times quickly till number is displayed, then release the button..

2. To change auto-off time among 0/60/120/180 seconds: please press "M" key, after choosing, press "ON/OFF" key to confirm the setting.

NOTE: The "0" option deactivates the auto-off function.

Problem is no matter how many times i try i cant get it to work - it just doesnt bring up the screen with the numbers on - has anyone else had this problem and worked out how to solve it??

Thanks

Thanks OP. I did not know that such an option exists. It worked on mine and I set it to 0. For the other one that I have and looks the same but is branded differently does not work but I'll have a look at the instructions leaflet if I'll find it.

No probs glad to be of help! - just to confirm you did exactly what the above instructions say.... leads me to believe mine might be faulty...

I just kept M pressed and pressed the power button several times (can't recall how many times LOL) until 180 shown on the display. Then I pressed M to set it to 0 and power to confirm and it then displayed PASS. I do not think yours it is faulty. It is with just different internals from what it should be. Must be like the other I have.

This is news to me too.. Worked straight away on my year old 0.1g type and have now disabled the auto-off. Which is good as I was often having to turn it back on at critical moments & it's become a bit of a pain since the on/off switch also started playing up, so nice timing and thanks for the info!

Would agree it sounds most likely the innards are different rather than faulty unless the M button isn't working. Perhaps if you look around on Amazon there might be a chance a similar scale from a different manufacturer would have a different method, if you can find the instructions online somewhere you might still be in business. Or you could try emailing the seller. Good luck with that, it would drive me mad too!

Just checked my AMIR scales and you press the on/off 5 times to get the timing feature up.

That's mighty odd. Have mine on the long auto off but it only happens after the weight has been static for a while. Only time I've ever had a problem was when the batteries were low.

Thats interesting - mine seem to time from last button push (usually the final tare)before pulling a shot, weight on the scale seems to make no difference!

Looks slightly different to mine which says Amir on the top & bottom. Could be wrong but might suggest it could be an 'economy' version of this generic Amir type scale which might have some less obvious options left out. If so there could be other settings left out so try something else eg maybe the counting function to confirm. And last but not least have you tried changing the batteries?

Well surprise surprise... I've been "done" on flea bay! Yours are quite clearly proudly displaying the trademark that is pure quality "amir"!

At at least I can now stop trying different button combos in the hope that it's me being a dunce and illl finally get them to work!

tried new batteries, all other functions inc count work fine...

damn it!
