Rocket Mozzafiato or Profitec Pro 300

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. Didn't want to put it in a manufacturer specific forum.

the question of whether to go for a Profitec Pro 300 or a Rocket Appartamento tends to appear on various forums but I have a slightly different question. Im trying to decide between the pro 300 and mozzafiato. I like that the mozzafiato has a PID, 2 pressure stats (compared to the appartamento). The boilers are also insulated on the mozzafiato so I would argue that it's a closer comparison to the pro 300.

what I like about the pro 300 is its ability to heat up in 10-15mins. In terms of build quality though, I'm at a loss as to which would be better. I'm looking for a machine to do me for the next 10-15 years. Looks are subjective, the rocket is very nice but the utilitarian style of the pro 300 is very nice too. The argument for the brew head doesn't bother me too much either. Reliability would probably be my main want!

The rocket would cost me 150 euro more. Would be interested to hear people's thoughts.

The Monzafiato is a Heat Exchanger, the Pro 300 is a (very small) dual boiler. They are very different machines.

Would you be happy with an HX machine and the temperature surfing? Would you be OK with the small boilers of the P300? I think those are the questions that need answering before hand.

The benefit of the small boiler is the quick heat up time! I don't think purging a few seconds of hot water from the group head is a big deal on HX machines. You just work it into the routine. I shrink the heat up time is swaying me for the profitec. I would just like to know if the steam is sufficient to do 3 drinks in quick succession. Ive read people say that they've steamed milk, prepped and pulled the next shot, and by the time they're ready to steam again that the machine is ready to go. If that is the case then it really is the one to go for.

What's your usage profile Barry?

One coffee a day except for weekends or perhaps regularly 3 or coffees in quick succession?

Also do you drink a lot of milk based coffee eg flat white?
mainly weekends. Would probably have 2/3 milk drinks at a time (for myself, wife and company say). The most that would happen is twice a day. The rest would be americanos.

You'll find the heat up time is not really to do only with the small boiler size, but the fact that the ring group is mounted underneath the boiler.

My machine has a steam boiler of 2 litres. It heats up in no time. The brew boiler of 750ml heats up in no time. The issue is the e61 group head which takes about 35-40 min to get up to a stable temperature.

Looks like you already know what you want. Personally, Id go for the Profitec as it heats up faster and is a dual boiler machine.

I think with the P300 you'll be able to pull the shot and steam milk simultaneously, and it will have no issues to get up to the temp for the next round with a short pause for grinding and puck prep...I like its utilitarian design too
:)
the pump seems to be well muffled too in the videos

Ya I think so too. Just needed that little push. Thanks guys!
Let us know how you get on.

I had another look at the pro 300 whole latte love review on YouTube last night - looks great. The pump is damped which accounts for stanics quietness comment.

Basically seems a full on dual boiler prosumer with a smaller steam boiler so all the benefits of pro 700 etc as long as you're not doing loads of steaming in quick succession.

Ya it's quite the all-rounder alright. I'd imagine that the max amount of milk based drinks youd ever be doing at once would be 3-4 and I would guess that the machine would be by the time you have the next shot lined up

im in ireland so probably get it here? https://www.coffeeitalia.ie/profitec-espresso-machine-pro300.html

Not sure exactly when I'll be able to get it.
Read the reviews on this forum for this distributor. I leave it up to you to decide.

Personally, I'd get it from the UK official Profitec distributor, Bella Barista, as they give you a 2 year guarantee and their customer service is legendary.

Let me explain ......coffeeitalia are what is known as a box shifter. They are not authorised by Profitec as a seller therefore cannot offer warranty. They buy them on the grey market and whatever warranty the factory offers becomes lost. Bella Barista include the warranty (2 years) and the warranty actually comes from them, not the manufacturer. This obviously explains why their price is a little more than unauthorised dealers. Of course they do not tell you this and will promise you the world.......just hope that you have no issues!

BB will have them back in after Christmas. They have a Demo model with 100 shots on the clock that they're willing to let go for £150 less but I think I'll wait. Just wanted to let people know that one was there for that price if it interested anyone
