I have just used my last seal up. I normally buy half a dozen at a time for convenience. Would it make sense to buy 4 x 8mm and a couple of 8.5mm? I cannot remember why I had some of the larger ones now.....anyone help?

My understanding was that the 8.5mm ones are useful on a machine where the brew head and/or portafilter lugs had worn slightly thereby meaning it takes more of a turn to form a seal against the rubber. Using an 8.5mm one takes up the slack of the worn parts. I might be wrong, but that was my understanding.

Good tip on the silicone seals glevum. If might give one a go.. despite already having 4 "normal" rubber ones in my spares stock.
