Hi new to the forum this week. I wondered if I could get some advice as my D’Longhi Dedica is dying. Looking at machines sub £500 that are a step up from the Dedica for basic home barista function (especially for espressos and FWs). Currently deciding between a Gaggia classic, Sage Bambino and Sage Barista Express. Want to improve barista skills with a reliable machine capable of delivering best quality coffee for under £500. Any thoughts?

One of those 3 has a built in grinder, so if you get either of the other 2 what are you doing grinder-wise? If you are buying a separate grinder that's a different question but as it stands, the Barista Express grinding fresh coffee will give you the best espresso and FWs compared to using pre-ground with the other two.

I good grinder will add far more to your overall coffee than the difference between the Gaggia or Bambino. I own a Bambino Plus and Sage Dual Boiler and while there is a difference when using my Niche grinder it's not as much as you would think. Also the Bambino offers excellent textured hands off milk steaming while the Gaggia may last longer.

In the last day or so a Niche Zero grinder sold on here for £350, I've seen the Bambino new for £199 previously so £549 total which I appreciate is a little over budget but I'd imagine if you can find a used Bambino or Gaggia that would bring you under budget.
