My machine came with a tablet to clean it which I plan on replacing with those by Cafiza when I've used it.

However, there is a sachet of powder for descaling which goes in the water tank. Any advice on good third party alternatives? How often should descaling be done?

I will replace the charcoal filters with non-branded ones from Amazon.

Does this sound okay? I've heard people talk about using vinegar?

Don't use vinegar, it had my shots tasting off for quite a while, use puly descaler, it was fine when I used it on my sage. Although you could just reduce the need for frequent descales by using bottled water as I and many other members do.

Is this still necessary with the filters? The mineral content of the cheap water at Aldi is pretty high so I wondered if that may lead to a build up inside?

I have little knowledge about the how charcoal filters affect scale build up however when I ran the sage I used volvic water and removed the water filter as volvic was recommended as causing little scale. I'm not really sure how much aldi water would cause scale build up but many member use volvic, ashbeck or a Waitrose water I can't for the life of me remember what is called.
