Cleaning and Descaling.

OK, so am rapidly coming up to 100 shots (not all coffee, most of that count was me dialling in the grinder and ECM).

Cleaning and descaling my old Miele fully automatic was fairly easy as you just followed the instructions on the screen, but this manual machine is slightly different.

Could someone please look over the following workflow for both Cleaning and Descaling and let me know if it's OK (with an ECM Puristika):

Machine up to temp 1st
Cleaning powder (3g) into blind basket.
5x10s lever pulls.
Leave for 5min.
1 further 10s lever pull, then release portafilter and rinse
Blind basket alone
5x10s lever pulls.
Release and rinse.

Turn off and release all water from boiler with lever pull.
Empty glass water reservoir and add portion (80ml killrock) of descaler to 700ml water.
Turn on again - system will start filling using the descaled water.
Blind basket still on portafilter
3x20s pulls
Leave for 10min.
Release portafilter.
Place bowl under naked group head and lift lever to empty descaling water completely from system then lever down.
Turn off.
Fill water reservoir with 700ml water.
Turn on and system will fill with new water.
Portafilter with same blind basket
3x20s pulls.
Release portafilter without waiting.
Place bowl under naked group head and lift lever to empty new water completely from system then lever down.
Turn off.
Fill water reservoir fully with fresh water.
Turn on and system will refill.

Ready to go, all cleaned and descaled.

I just run a scoop of cleaner in a blind 5x10 second and run a little water to rinse. On the descale, you wouldn't need to do this anywhere near as regularly. Some people do it every year say. Though, in an ideal with using good water etc you'd have nothing to de-scale!
