I am interested in purchasing the i200d burrs, any movement on price? They are £95 currently on Mazzers website with 20% tax that would be around £114. Would you be able to match that or are you looking to make a profit on them? What is the reason for buying so many burs?
Hi, not really looking to profit so much just cover costs. I bought them along with a set of the i189d as the minimum order value with MAZZER was 130 .. cost me £240 for the burrs and taxes (£188 for 2xBurrs £52 tax). Expected it shouldn’t be too hard to sell on and I had the i200d burrs in the philos when I ordered it.. happy if just covered costs which would be £120. That work?

Oh right! So you did the opposite to me. I bought the Philos with the I189D burs and was now looking to purchase the I200D but ran into the minimum order problem.

I am located in Harrow (North west london). I am happy to agree at the price of £120. Would you be able to ship them to me? Its around 50 Miles drive to you so wouldnt be worth the cost in fuel.

Hi, I would agree to the price and to ship .. :)

PM me!

Do like I did .. get both sets of burrs and swap out when you feel you want to go for light roast & clarity over darker roasts with more body. I’ve got the i189d’s in atm and they are great! Used the i200d to start with and loved the more modern espresso you can pull with the lighter roasts.

FYI: I have an extra set of the i200d burrs for sale on here ;)

cant spend more atm haha

Just ordered mine (in black).

Unfortunately same conundrum as above because I enjoy both Light/MediumLight/Medium coffee as well as Medium/MediumDark/Dark coffee (not sure what I'm missing but I thought most people would like a wide range).
So have ordered both burrs.

Dreading the final import/handling/vat costs but looking forward to the improvement over my Specialita (y)

Sorry for the bump but just paid UPS so now know the import costs in full - thought I'd put the total costs up here in case it might be helpful to others:

Philos + burr set of your choice = £712

other burr set = £94

VAT + import duty = £166 (so I guess if just buying Philos alone with single burr set this would be about £147)

UPS handling fee = £13.60

Therefore Total cost Philos with both burr sets delivered to UK = £985

Total cost Philos with single burr set (either i189D or i200D) to UK = about £873

Worth mentioning that I didn't receive any email from UPS and the UPS iphone app did not have an option to pay the duty. I had to phone customer services and they told me to do it via the UPS website (where there was a link to pay). Paid and tracker immediately acknowledged that all fees had been paid.
I think if you don't pay, UPS will request payment on delivery but I didn't want the hassle of trying to pay at the door with cash or card.
Just waiting for delivery now...

Great info. Enjoy the beauty. What colour did you order? Seeing lots of black but silver would be my choice to match the coming Argos

Well I had a dilemma for the colour.

Existing ECM Puristika = Black top and sides, Chrome front ---> would match the black version perfectly.
Dualit Cino Steamer = brushed silver all over ----> would match the silver version perfectly.

So could have been either but in the end I went for the black one as that not only matched the Puristika but also other appliances I have (If anything, then "odd one out" amongst all the kitchen appliances is the Dualit).

Anyway it arrived today at 14:30 - not bad considering I ordered it on Monday. The burrs should have arrived this evening as a second package but unfortunately UPS hasn't delivered them so I'm not sure when I'll get them (the tracker says "will be delivered by 7pm 6th Feb - it's now 19:40).
Haven't opened the main machine yet because I have to rearrange some kitchen stuff and pack the specialita first (might wait for the other burrs to arrive first).

Hey, I've been in the market for an upgrade for my niche zero. I'll still be using my niche for medium/dark roasts but the new grinder should hopefully be equipped to hand light roasts or turbo shots. So far I've narrowed my choices to either the Lagom p64 or Zerno Z1 but I'd rather get something from a company that has a distributor in the UK since the shipping and customs amounts to nearly 20% of the grinders price. I saw Dave Corbey had a video a few months ago inspecting the grinder in a showroom, but reviews are very scant at the moment since the grinder hasn't been released yet.

Does anyone insight on the new Mazzer philos?
  • How are the mazzer customer service? I've been spoilt on the niche customer service, they've been amazing every time I've had a problem with my grinder.
  • The grinder's specifications look good to me, but are there any red flags that I've missed that I should be on the look out for?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
Got mine on order now. All I can say reviews are positive and customer service has replied in 2 days. I have asked how long will the current launch price will last since it’s been a while. They have said “We inform you that in the coming weeks we will announce on the e-commerce website the new price”. So I’ve ordered mine. Lots of websites in uk have it much more expensive so I assume when the launch price is scrapped it’ll cost even more and will be out of my price range. Also everyone is predicting it’ll cost much more.

Unpacked it - getting to be a tight squeeze in coffee corner now......

Massive improvement in espresso - dialled in easily from 2nd shot.

Have decided to use specialita for pour-overs so that's staying

which burrs have you currently got in?
Started with the i189D
Image

Lovely, syrupy espresso that gives the best mouthfeel (regardless of roast).

Have just swapped to the i200D
Image

which I think gives the most signature note flavours apart from the coffee itself (e.g if it's coffee with citrusy notes - the citrus really shines through; coffee with red fruits - the red fruits are abundant), again regardless of roast level.

I don't think I would've been unhappy with either actually, but getting 2 is great vfm as the second set will only be about £112 which is much cheaper than other specialist burrs.

One thing not to forget is the re-calibrate after switching over and cleaning:

Only takes seconds to do.

The other difference between the burrs is I've found I have to go a few notches finer going from i189D to i200d
(189 at about the 19-20 grind mark with med-dark roasts, 200 at about 15-16 with light-med roasts).

You went for exactly what I went for. I had the Philos factory fit with the I189D and then purchased the I200D and I found the exact same things. I am actually preferring the taste profile the I200D gives. Incredible difference between the two!

Did you pay import before delivery or after? If after how long until you got the invoice?
UPS handles all import, vat and handling fees. They won't release the item to you until it's paid. They also won't tell you via text/email/app that there is any invoice at all (I've had no communication from them re:duty - had to chase it up on my own with customer services).

Option 1: Chase it up yourself - as soon as you get shipment notification from Mazzer they'll include the UPS tracking number. use the tracking number and log on to the UPS desktop website. After tracking the item (i.e. on delivery status page) a link will appear to pay the invoice - pay here (won't work via mobile app or telephone to customer services - have to pay via website).
After payment, tracking will immediately update that you've paid.
Take a screenshot.
When item is delivered, UPS delivery driver will inevitably tell you you owe money (despite UPS themselves knowing you've paid).
Show them the screenshot.
Get item.

Option 2: Do nothing, just wait for delivery.
At delivery the UPS delivery driver will inevitably tell you you owe money (which you do).
Pay Invoice with card (I would never use cash) and triple check you're paying UPS not his bank account.
Get item

got me confused is I’ve got the grinder already and they haven’t asked to pay the VAT yet. It’s been 2 weeks so far
