Ah! Thank you. I understand some people discard the whole Teflon tube? But I'm not sure why?
Well it's the whole no burn thing...sorta depends on the machine.
1. No burn wands do get hot when used for a while either one long steam on a lower powered machine, or 2 steams on a fast steaming machine
2. On a machine with plenty of steam power a no burn wand can restrict and slow down steaming, faster steaming gives sweeter milk and better texture
So really no burn wands should have the same cool grip bits as "burn" wands..but to save a few pence, manufacturers usually don't fit them...I think I specified that they do fit them on the Verona steam and HW wands. If they don't and you remove the inner teflon tube, you need to fit some.
If you have the later model Duettos where the service boiler shares the PID loop with the brew boiler, then it's steaming power is reduced from what it could be (as it is in ANY DB machine that doesn't have a separate PID loop for the service boiler). So removal of the teflon tube, may require changing the steam tip to one with smaller holes. Conversely removing one, could require steam tip hole size is increased (less likely) on machines able to supply more powerful steam
So really it's a try it and see what you prefer scenario, but for your machine, I don't think it will make a huge difference.
P.S the wand shaft is easier to clean when it's "no burn", even on a "burn" wand, the shaft is easy enough to clean, but the tip is no easier to clean and it's usually the tip where the problems come.
