I know there are a few cyclists on the forum, myself included. Whenever I can find the time I love doing all-day or even overnight mixed-terrain rides with a few mates and we'll quite often stop in the middle of nowhere to make a brew, or brew and lunch/dinner depending on the ride.
I'm curious about who else does this and how you do it.
My setup is a ti micro-stove with small isopro canister, 650ml ti mug, collapsing Sea-to-Summit cup, folding ti spoon & fork (not a fan of sporks!) and a Clipper mini lighter (they're refillable and reflintable). Everything packs down into the ti cup with the collapsible cup on top. With a 2/3 full canister it weighs in at 450g.
Here's the guilty secret bit: I use coffee bags! Considered trying a handpresso and similar portable espresso gear but you've still got to boil the water and the weight adds up fast. I did take my Aeropress and Porlex with me a few times but again, the weight gets out of hand. I know I could save weight with an alcohol stove but they're not much use if you're trying to brew up in a howling wind on top of the South Downs, so the micro stove is a good compromise between weight and performance.
How are other people doing this?
