Bezzera Magica PID: operating noise

I got my Bezzera Magica PID since a week now, and I experience an audible squelchy noise after the machine reaches its operational temperature (like ~15 mit after start). What's annoying is that the noise is there as long as the machine is left switched on. Is this normal? Any tips what this noise exactly is and/or should I be worried?

I have uploaded the video (including the entire startup) here

Key points:
  • ~7:00 boiler reached 70C
  • after 7:00 the sound is already audible
  • 10:46 boiler reached 92C (operational temp) - squelchy noise present
  • 11:00 close-up
  • 11:12 draw water (to compare sound / loudness)
  • 11:19 squelchy noise still present... as long as machine is on!

Any tips appreciated!

That sounds like a valve / solenoid allowing water/ steam to creep past.
Is there a continuous drip / dribble into the drip tray ?
Is the anti -vac valve allowing steam / air to escape--dripping into drip tray ?
Have you had the M/ch open to check for steam leaks or dribbles inside?

I see no continuous drip nor dribble into the drip tray (neither from the head, nor the steam or hot water tap)

I see no signs of steam or air (besides the sound) escape--dripping into drip tray currently. Any thips on how to further asses this?

Not yet, but I plan to check it. I'll update the thread once I open the machine to check for steam leaks or dribbles inside. One note here: if this would happen, I assume I should already see water dripping around the bottom of the machine, which does not happen currently.

Will keep you posted!

Not necessarily , with small escapes steam or water, with hot surfaces S + w can evaporate quite quickly.
When you open it check for staining and discoloured areas particularly around pipe fittings/ joints also around sol- valves
