I have recently gotten into making espressos and especially americanos. On an average I make around 3 cups of americanos a day where I use a double shot = 18 grams of beans for approx 36 grams of yield/output. I then add approx double the amount of water. So for one day I extract and consume...

Prior to getting our current Bean To Cup Machine (Melitta Varianza CSP), we (the Mrs and I) were using the Swissgold Filter and the Cafietere. Using these methods you get a whole cup (approx 220ml) of brewed coffee, which means it's relatively intensely/full flavoured. In the machine, to try a...

My thinking is that if you're going to be adding it to an amount of hot water, is the espresso brew ratio relevant? Will a 36g pull from an 18g dose taste better than just letting the extraction run to 60g? Cheers.

Hi all, I'm a Newbie moving from bean to cup and just bought a Sage Duo Temp and Smart Grinder Pro.... I buy good quality beans off the net (Hasbean) and do enjoy Americano. The question I'm asking is all these beans that Hasbean etc sell where they describe subtle notes, how much water do I...

I usually go to bed around 00:45 - 01:15. So it's soon bedtime and I'm already looking forward to waking up naturally at around 07:30 - 08:30 and drinking great Americano / espresso coffee. Brewed via Hausgrind / Aeropress or Chemex - espresso via Mazzer Royal / ECM

As a poor student, i take a thermos to the library every day with coffee in it to save money. Two espressos a day at £2 + a day can really run up quite a cost. So i normally make an americano from my espresso machine and put it in the flask. But i never really find these satisfying. I...

Hello all! My name is Gavin and I am coffee mad. About to launch an app called Qoffee®, totally buzzing about it and visiting so many coffee shops to and from my place of work (not coffee related). Love an americano in the morning and then a flat white further on through the day.

I mostly drink flat whites and have been drinking more espresso since my skills have improved. I never drink Americanos. Quite frequently people see my setup and want me to make them a coffee. When asked for Americano I don't know what to think as in my mind I consider it to be an espresso...
  11. Coffee Beans
Hi All, I thought I would venture into some online roasters and wondered if there were any specific beans (whether generally or from specific roasters) you would recommend for a black Americano (ie no milk) created with an espresso machine. I particularly like medium bodied, smooth coffees...

Hi all, I will apologise up front. Please forgive what may seem a very basic, noob, question but I have never owned a 'manual' espresso machine, my B2C did it all for me. I mainly drink Americanos and I understand the recommended procedure is to pour your espresso shot and then top it up with...

Hi guys, I've recently bought a pre-millennium EP (1978) from @ coffee chap and absolutely love it. I exclusively use Coffee Compass espresso blends and really like cappuccino or milk based drink however I do like the odd espresso. My grinder is a La Cimbali Magnum and I grind pretty fine with...

I've always been a huge fan of a good Americano. I may not be quite the connoisseur that many of you are, but a good Americano from Cafe Nero or a local artisan coffee shop is my idea of bliss. However, as a student, I'm on a relatively tight (£300 max) budget. Is there any way to replicate a...

I think this is going to be my next purchase. I have a Gaggia Classic, which i've had for a couple of years now (since being a member of this board). I'm thinking that the Evo would be a good upgrade which I dont think I'd need to change again for a long time. I like americanos with a drop of...

So, I have a combination espresso/filter drip machine, I've been having espresso In little espresso cups in the morning, and the rest of the time having black unsweetened filter coffee as I generally prefer to drink coffee like that. anyway, someone said to me that most of the chain stores make...

I'm a first time coffee machine buyer, and am looking for a coffee machine in the price range of £60-£80. I'm an espresso man but occasionally like the odd americano. What advice would you give me as to what to buy? I'm considering a nespresso but it seems expensive to buy the little nespresso...
