Still completely baffled by this... Tried some new beans and no improvement. Getting completely bizarre extractions. With the exact same grinder setting, the exact same dose (18.5g and WDT in this case) same final weight (37g) and same tamp pressure I just had 42 seconds out, then 28, then the...

I'm not sure why I mention using a timer and 30 second extractions and the assumption is that I'm not weighing and just stopping the timer at 30 seconds expecting it to be great… I've been making espresso at home for 12 years and I'd say a huge majority of good tasting cups extract in...

Thanks. Tamp and prep remained pretty consistent, I've been making four shots or so a day for the past couple of months I've had the Bianca and the inconsistent results are only recent. It definitely tastes bad, even if I'm able to get a 30ish second extraction, which is what has previously...

I've been getting some unusual and inconsistent results from a coffee I've had many kg's of. It's a fairly dark Brazilian blend from a well-known roaster and I know the coffee well. It was roasted in mid-December and has been in an airtight canister since. This past week I've been noticing two...

The LMLM is a fantastic machine from a brand with huge heritage, but for me it's just always seemed like a single group commercial machine. Perfect if you need to make 200 coffees a day at home. Admittedly it is a great looking machine. If it was half the price I'd have probably bought one...

I bought the Bianca after after seeing very little other than great reviews and some satisfied owners on here. Admittedly I've only had it for 6-8 weeks but I've used it more than once daily and it's an absolute joy to use, something I don't think I could honestly say about any of my prior...

Another Bianca owner here, love it. The auto-timer on my scales was frustratingly unreliable as it would occasionally inexplicably stop after a few seconds and it doesn't have physical buttons (touchscreen style input) so whilst not a huge faff, it's not the most user friendly situation...

I ended up keeping the x54 and four months on I'm really pleased. Part of that success is giving up on the idea of ever having a 'one grinder for every brew method' and just accepting it as an espresso grinder (or a brew grinder) which it does a great job as. Granted there are better options...

Oh! Glad I posted before I thought I was getting away scale-free! Kettle it is then! As a sidenote, is Volvic still causing scale when using the steam wand?

Question for Bianca owners… does the chemical/'new'/weird taste ever dissipate from water out of the hot water dispenser? I know the genera advice is to just use a kettle but I'd really like to use the hot water wand for Americanos. Mainly for simplicity's sake and to save electricity...

Thanks! I had to google the rdt method and I'll give it a try.

I just got a Fellow Ode as a second, brew-only grinder after admitting defeat on the 'one grinder for everything' search. I'm really impressed for the most part, it's incredibly quick, unbelievably quiet and perhaps most importantly doesn't add a lot of bulk on the work surface. What it does...

Thanks, I just bought a few packs of Volvic and will continue to use that until I get the in-line system fitted.

@Tmax thanks. Congrats on the new machine, enjoy it!

Ha! It must be the angle… In fairness it's not terrible, just the 'Landlord's Special', albeit from about 1980.

After getting some great help on here I bought the Bianca about three weeks ago and the x54 I've had since it was released earlier in the year. I've raved about both in my other thread but in addition to making some of the best cups of coffee I've ever had, both are a joy to use each day...

I realised I hadn't posted any photos since getting the Bianca. Reluctant to show a wider angle as the kitchen in the rental isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the Bianca!

Technically you can make espresso quite successfully somewhere around that price point. Plenty of people do, daily, and get great enjoyment from it. I think there's a James Hoffman video where he buys some used equipment to see how affordably he can make espresso. For me, and I've learned this...

For ยฃ350 I'd personally avoid espresso. It's not impossible, and with some smart used buys you could possibly get reasonable results but it won't be efficient or user-friendly. In my opinion your option A is the wrong way round. You'll have a slow grinding process and a faster brew method...

Yep mine is the updated one. I got it from Bella Barista who were really helpful answering a couple of small questions I had and shipping it quickly. Arrived well packaged and the extra guide that comes with it from BB written by @DaveC is a goldmine. Im nearly three weeks in and it's a joy...
