    If that's the case then spending the best part of ยฃ200 on a supposedly top notch grinder is looking like a bad move - I'm already trying the very finest grind. I'd really like to think it isn't that, but I'm not sure what else it could be

    I get the problem even with beans bought very recently, and on the finest grind. They claim to be a small-scale roaster, but maybe they sometimes have some around for too long
