    I understand that static pressure is what you measure with a pressure gauge affixed to the portafilter. In this case water supplied by the pump exits via the OPV only. Dynamic pressure is what is present at the portafilter when water passes through the coffee puck (and the excess via the OPV)...

    I tried to make singles with 7 grams of ground coffee and the results were mediocre at best. But when I got myself a deeper single basket (24mm instead of 19mm) and used about 10 grams, the results improved a lot.

    Hi, I tried as suggested. The result was mediocre, but I think not because it was a pod basket. I got similar results with the proper single basket of the same size. I read somewhere that Gaggias don't excel with single baskets. I also have a somewhat deeper single basket (24mm instead of 19mm)...

    Hi, Is there any disadvantage of using a pod filter (the one with a smaller number of holes and a C stamped in the rim) instead of a proper single shot filter? Ed
