Yeah I did. The coffee was very interesting... but it almost like tastes like bergamot tea. I'm too used to espresso :-/.

Sounds like a good idea. Will give it a try. Cheers

True, but can anyone advise about one method or the other for this type of coffee (it's a light roast)?

Just came back from Panama and grabbed some 100g of Janson Geisha. Can anyone advise a decent brew method for it? I've had it served there as pour-over but was wondering if it's equally nice with French press or other. I only own espresso equipment so will have to buy new gear just for that.

Over the last few months my machine starting dripping some water from the group while warming up (around 1/2 tablespoons). I can't remember it doing so before. Could it be that the group seal needs replacement? Has anyone had the same issue?

If you're really in a "rush" try to rotate (a tiny bit) the pf until you hear the pressure coming out. It's only safe after it stops. As far as I've seen, if it takes more than 1 min or so (from extraction to taking the pf out) you're probably grinding too fine.

If you want to "risk" (as in willing to wait a while until you get it) you can try to buy one from madebyknock. I have one and it's quite alright. In regards to the shop you can find reviews on the forums.

I've bought my Pavoni from them last year and got dispatched the day after the buy. Everything arrived fine. Since I never had any issues with the machine I don't have any opinion on their service.
  10. All Grinders & Hand-Grinders
True, that sounds like a plausible explanation. Since you brought this up, I'll try to do some research on this as it got me quite curious. Cheers!

I'm actually curious about this. Would you care to elaborate? I'd expect exactly the opposite - as in producing coarser grinds - but my experience is quite limited and I'm probably seeing things the wrong way. (p.s. - sorry for shifting a bit from the thread's main topic)
  12. Coffee Beans
I had the idea I gave it a try once and thought it was too dark for my taste, but I might be confusing it with a Blue Sumatra I got once. Will give it a second chance . Cheers
  13. Coffee Beans
Thanks. I've been buying it for a year now, with the occasional coffee from somewhere else, so the idea is to try something else from them that can be equally nice (if it exists )
  14. All Grinders & Hand-Grinders
I'd say it took around 30-50 turns from how I got my MC2 (also a worm drive one) to get it right. I just used the single basket for the first few coffees to spend less until I got close to something decent.

My pavoni manual even mentions it as an alternative to a commercial descaler.
  16. Coffee Beans
I usually buy their Formula Rossa (and bought once one called Aroma). However, I'd like to try something else from them (as it's quite close to my work place). Preferably some medium/dark roast for espresso. Does anyone here buy there and has a suggestion?

Amaretti - they go really well with an espresso!

    The same here.

I can't tell you much about repairing the machine as I've had mine for a bit more than 1 year now (from new) - it does look like an old Europiccola though. Some other members can probably give you a more informed reply. You can get quite a lot of info about anything La Pavoni related...
