Hi all. Thanks for your comments so far. As to temperature, I am well aware of the temp profile of these particular levers. My second pull is always the benchmark as the first has always been too blonde and sour. Don't forget, this isn't something that I struggled with from day one, this is...

This may be in the wrong thread, if so I apologise, but as being lever specific I thought it would be best here. I have an issue with shots coming out consistently a little, (or a lot!), sour. I use the following: Gaggia Factory Mignon Rave beans - one specific bean and roast at the moment...

I have the original instructions, but apart from the cover saying Gaggia, all the instructions are pictured with a La Pavoni Europiccola.

I think this depends on the age of your La Pav, and whether or not it has the Millennium group head. (Grouphead?) This was introduced in, I think, 2000, but the basket size previous to this was 49mm id IIRC. Post introduction it is 51mm id (Note - these sizes relate to the bottom of the basket...

Thanks for that. I will see how it changes. At the moment it isn't so pleasurable. Matter of interest, As a bean ages is there a general rule of thumb regarding whether to go finer, or coarser over time? Or, again, is that dependent on the bean?

Hi After using a certain espresso bean from Rave, fairly constantly recently, I received a new batch the other day and because I ran out of the previous batch earlier than I anticipated, I opened the new one. So, it was roasted on the 17th, which means normally I shouldn't even begin to think...

Should be 51mm. The 2001 model I have is fitted with the Millennium grouphead as standard and this is the size for that particular one. I assume you haven't gotten the plastic tamper with it?

So after a week or so with the 'Tin Man', this is what I find, I assume this will be the same for any Europiccola with the Millennium grouphead. After always getting the first shot too blonde and slightly bitter, I realise this is down to temperature AND the fact I didn't read the manual which...

And this is my Henry Burton 631. Which is both less than a year old, and for sale or px for another fixed/SS. Steel for the win! 105 octalink crankset, 105 hubs to DP18 rims, hand built on DT spokes, (rear is also washered at the head), Micro shift 9 speed (I deliberately went 9 speed for...

Ok so - after a few days consistancy is certainly there. First shot is always just a little Blonde, and slightly harsh tasting. This, I think must be temperature. I am using 15g in the double basket. The second shot is always fantastic. If anything, it requires a 1 and a half pull as one pull...

Hi CharlieJ. To be honest, PG63B0300PSI on http://www.flowfitonline.co.uk/ is ยฃ5.63 plus vat. All you need then is a adapter from 3/8 on the Portafilter to 1/4 on the guage, I paid ยฃ1.50 at a local Ironmongers and added a bit of PTFE tape. Works a treat for about a tenner all in. Not worth me...
