  1. All Grinders & Hand-Grinders
Bloody hell! I've got two MBK grinders. Got lucky methinks!
  2. All Grinders & Hand-Grinders
It looks like my email yesterday prodded him into action! He's sorting it out today and posting it back this week. Looking at the photos he sent me, it's a truly knackered grinder but he's declined my second offer of paying for parts & labor, which is nice of him! Fingers crossed.
  3. Home Roasters
I started out with this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nuvo-Ceramic-Handy-Coffee-Roaster/dp/B00LHEKY68/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1549221453&sr=1-1&keywords=nuvo+roaster It's labor intensive but if you know the theory of roasting it's very controllable and produces excellent results.

Not sure if this is the correct place for this thread. Please move if I've messed up. Is anyone aware of any (extra) communication problems regarding Peter at Knock? Is he ill (or dead)? Jan 3rd I contacted him about a broken Hausgrind and received a response within hours offering to fix it...

No idea as I've not used the popcorn method. Sorry!
  6. Home Roasters
Still using it after about two years. No problems at all. Moving over to my new Ikawa today
  7. Home Roasters
I love freshly roasted coffee for it's 'zing' and after a couple of days for it's more 'rounded' flavour and mouthfeel.

I have been using a Nuvo handheld roaster for the best part of two years. Easy to use with consistently great results. You just need decent air extraction and a gas hob. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nuvo-Ceramic-Handy-Coffee-Roaster/dp/B00LHEKY68
  9. Home Roasters
Got mine this week and have roasted the 50g bag that it came with. Really easy to use. Not had a chance to try my usual beans (from HasBean) yet. That'll be when the fun starts.
  10. Home Roasters
Yep but I can't remember what I got given I should be getting my pre-ordered home roaster July/August. I pre bought mine for ยฃ600 but I see that they are now selling them for ยฃ1200!!
  11. Home Roasters
That's pretty much what the guy on the Ikawa stand told me a couple of weeks ago at the London Coffee Festival.
  12. Home Roasters
Looks like Ikawa have opened up a new (and presumably much needed) revenue stream.
  13. Home Roasters
Yup, I got an email from IKAWA recently saying that they expected to start shipping the home version in "early 2017". Looking forward to mine

I've started pre-heating my Nuvo roaster whilst I'm microwaving the beans (1 minute on high in a 1100W microwave) then pouring into the Nuvo. First crack at about 5 minutes and second at about 8ish for most beans. This takes the total roast time down from approx 15 minutes to about 9 minutes...

Found this picture here: http://uberhumor.com/daily-morning-epicness-0-pictures-763 Thought it was worth sharing
  16. Home Roasters
I'd say that the Nuvo is probably better as the Zen isn't waffled on the base so the beans won't be properly agitated as you shake them. That will result in them being more likely to be burned as they aren't rolling, just sliding.
