Recently I've noticed that any coffees that I make that I top up with hot water from the hot water arm taste a bit like bad socks...
This seems to be a result of the taste of the water coming out of the boiler. Which got me thinking - the water in the boiler - does it not just get heated over...

My naked gaggia pf made it back to me today. The lugs are a slightly different shape, so i didnt want to force it too much - placed it in loosely... As a result my coffee and basket ended up flying across the kitchen. Grinds all over the wall. The mrs unimpressed.

A basic question. I've a 15g basket and an 17g basket. If I put 15g of same grind coffee in both, should I expect the same result in the cup (or is their a water on top of puck due to extra space problem)?
Anyone tried this? My naked is with a mate the wrong end of the country & I'm wondering if I should get him to bring it down at some stage? Not sure if it will fit.....they take the same VST baskets after all - but I guess it comes down to the external dimensions and the lugs.

Hi all, I'm Delfi's lactose intolerant mrs and think I need to join in the conversation.
I found some interesting stats online. It appears that 5% of the UK population is lactose intolerant, vs. only 1% of vegans (stats pages linked below if you're feeling nerdy). Almond or any other variation...
I'm glad that this post is providing a good discussion point. Big thanks to all - particularly Barry - whom seems to be the only cafe owner to step forward and help us plebs probe this issue.

Do any decent coffee shops in the big smoke use Lacto free milk? If not, why not?
My other half is lactose intolerant. Although Soya milk seems to be everywhere - does anywhere use Lactofree? (Like the rest of us she enjoys a good flat white when she's out and about.

I used to use it with an Iberital MC2 for a while. The fine control over the grind setting was fairly useful. You can prob pick a second hand one who for ยฃ80-90 if your quick to reply.
