Bad timing for me too, I made my bulk bean order on Monday and now Extract have released Lord Dunsford and HasBean have the 2012 crop of Finca San Jose, both will be at the top of my next order

I stripped mine down the other week to install the PID and pressure gauge, the back cover is fiddly to get back into place but overall it's pretty easy to strip and put back together. I didn't go as far as stripping the group down but looking at how it's built I can't imagine it'll be to hard to...

I'm currently using the MC2 with Doser and can't fault it for price. Adjusting grind settings can be tedious so I tend to stick to one Espresso blend/bean at a time to prevent dialling in constantly.

I completely agree, internal gauges look a lot better but they do come at a cost, it's so difficult putting holes in Silvia to fit them

1st shot of Unkle Funka after I've installed my PID and pressure gauge. Haven't adjusted anything yet so pressure was 10 bar and temp was 92C but the sweetness was hidden behind a huge turmeric flavour, it really has surprised me

Haven't adjusted the pressure yet but it was reading 10 bar so I need to dial it down a notch

Not really, need a grinder to replace my MC2 and a Lido for work

Wow what a job that was....! Anybody considering internal PIDs, gauges, etc be warned Silvia is one tough cookie... It took 36 Dremel Cutting Disks a 12 Dremel Grinding blocks to make 2 small holes. 7 hrs later I have finished the upgrade, wiring diagrams were a little too complicated for...

So far Buxton's not looking promising Dropped into the best looking coffee shop (walked straight past 2 when i saw percolators on the side and no espresso machines) and it was dreadful, espresso was really bitter, over extracted and I'm sure it was mostly robusta. Cappuccino was froth, no microfoam

    Where!?!?!

Reneb - I think it's due more to quality control rather than design. This is where madebyknock is better as each tamper is made to specifically fit a VST basket

Reneb - The Motta was actually about 57.5mm whereas the madebyknock is 58.35 so it's a much snugger fit for my VSTs
