Anyone with over 3000 posts should be "Handlebar Moustache"

Only 190g per batch? The chamber allows up to 300-330g, doesn't it? 85% yield etc, surely a standard bag is approachable - or best results means not putting too much in? Or different yield amount?

The caffeine contributes to it, but I do get quite annoyed when people say "it's tastes horrible, but it's morning" for trying to justify a crap brew, both are parts of the experience for me, but with 80-90% taste vs 10-20% caffeine (depending on the time of day!). If I need a caffeine hit...

The only time when I've *really* noticed the music playing in a coffee shop, it was that really laid back, acoustic cover of Sweet Child 'O Mine. Worked really well in the setting for me. Edit: Just read big dan's post again - thinking of it, it was Costa in which I heard this acoustic cover as...

You could take inspiration from these on CoffeeHit, and use a wooden base with a few small lengths of copper and a couple of corner pieces - obviously if it's compression joints they'd have to be heated into position, but not necessarily.

I've not used any of them, but would assume (based upon things I've read on here) that the advise of the many would be a Classic, along with assorted accessories such as a decent tamper, VST basket, naked portafilter and potentially a PID...

Must be like food tasters who see a plate of amazingly prepared deliciousness, take one bite, then move on!

Don't knock the Espressivo I got into coffee at uni with a DeLonghi machine - got quite drinkable results with Tesco's own-brand coffee, especially brewed, on the cheap. Welcome!

Haha, HagBean! Intrigued by the results achievable in the Gene Cafe..

Where'd you get the unpressurised basket from? I have an Espressivo and have been looking...

However, food photography is a strange thing - want that burger looking nice and juicy? Pour some WD40 on it. Want to separate the lettuce layer from the burger? Whack some cotton wool in there. At least the Starbucks one appears to be truer to the product you'll actually get

I saw one smash once, after just being filled with nearly boiling water. 'Twas not a pretty sight...

I think you just answered your own question Glass is pretty expensive to make, especially as they have to build redundancy into how much heat it can take, along with the fact there are half a dozen other components. More components, the more expensive it is to make. Plus, people keep them...

I had a plan for that - I was already budgeting for a Buono, but read elsewhere on here that an olive oil pourer could work as well.

Sounds like a plan! Was just making sure I wasn't going to be missing out on any real changes in flavour using it, and it will mean I can pick up some more espresso-making bits instead which is nice.
