    This ^^ gave the best results so far. Steaming 100ml in a round bottomed glass *almost* gets a vortex going and cuts the time it takes to a much more acceptable level. I'll persevere - if it's going to be possible with any method then I think this is it.

    That's got to be more than a coincidence! Dualit aren't exactly famed for their espresso machines - it's possible that they bought the casing design or outsourced the build to another company. Hopefully the internals in the ยฃ160 version (ยฃ129 in comet) are of better quality than the ยฃ25, but...
