    Generic, original, LM

Think I'm getting a little confused. That's the pic of the basket that does work. It's the other two that don't.

Is this the view you're after?

Genius! I had been searching but with no luck.

Plenty of space there when the plastic part's removed.

I removed the plastic part to check it wasn't causing the issue. Both baskets appear to fit nicely until it comes to use. If you can see, the outer lip on the original basket (middle) is every so slightly smaller than the other two. It's the only thing I can think is causing the issue. I'm...

This sounds like the same part I'm looking to replace on my (much disliked) Breville mini barista. I've tried generic and LM baskets which both appear to fit but in reality the height of the border lip (struggling for the correct term here) is too tall to get the portafilter to lock in.

Already ordered. Hopefully with me by Monday. :)

@Kjk That sounds like good advice to me!

Don't worry @Irisco! I'm not heading to the supermarket really! I managed to snag a Niche. Will be using it with a Breville mini barista until I can upgrade. It sounds like I should start my list with the sugar cane and James Gourmet and work my way through. I really appreciate the nudge in...

My shiny new grinder is arriving tomorrow and I have no idea where to start with beans to the point that I'm now completely overwhelmed and considering popping to the supermarket and grabbing a bag of pre-ground. I'm using something that masquerades as an espresso machine (upgrading will be my...

I know what you mean about the budget - I feel like I want to add an extra 0 to the end of it! I'll be drinking espresso/Americano and the family are more likely to go for cappuccino/latte type things. Wondering if I should focus most/all of the current budget on the grinder then start the...

I'm learning so much from you all! Thank you! Are there any grinders I should look at first or would be foolish not to consider?

So you've managed to convince me to stick with the beast and put my money towards a grinder. Next newbie question: is it possible to find one that you can easily change beans with? It occurs to me that when we're finally allowed to mingle again, a lot of my family drink decaf...

Thought as much but at least it confirms I should stop looking!

Do you think there's any way of doing it brand new or best to look 2nd hand?

I'm not averse to a hand grinder - I have all the time in the world! Would you favour the bambino over the duo temp or vice versa?

Nothing yet, which is another dilemma entirely. Do I split my budget between machine and grinder?Do I skip the grinder for now and make that my next saving project as my entirely unrefined palate probably still won't notice the difference?
