    Hi, is this still available?

Sounds good! What dosage/ratio do you normally go for in them?
  3. Brewed Coffee โ˜•
Just went for 600ml/36g with great success in the wave 185 mind!

Recently bought a Behmor Brazen. Been having some difficulty getting a solid 1.2l of coffee from it with the Kalita Wave 185 filters recommended by Has Bean. I've found the filter paper overflows during the brew even at the 66g recommended by Behmor - and certainly no chance of going for the...

Well, photos to come in the near future, but I think I've cracked it! It was two problems compounded. Problem the first: The untamped ground coffee is fluffy. Takes up a lot of space. I was last doing this Summer 2014 so perhaps environmental changes are to blame? If I accept a bit of mess...

I do, I was just curious about the idea that it might be mislabelled. If my basket is almost 2g lighter than yours it might be a different size.

Mr Boots, how much does your 20g basket weigh? - Mine is 34.5g.

I'll second this. I've had the SWS100 and the maximum capacity is too low. Also, it's convenient that Amazon recommends little plastic bags with them. I suppose people must be weighing out their coffee into these bags for future use. Smart!

Quite. It's not that I'm trying to get my money's worth - more that I'm convinced I must be doing something else wrong!
  10. Coffee Beans
I'll bump this to the top, seeing as I popped in on my drive home yesterday. Their method is to roast to order, and to post it out same or next day. Came away with 250g each of: Panama Palmyra (Medium) - Not had this yet. Sumatra Mandehling (Dark for espresso) - Not had this yet. Caffe...

It's quite clumpy. My mistake - it's a 20g basket. I've just had a crack at tamping a little lighter. Managed to find a grind where I could just get 20g in there. Tamped quite lightly and made the best espresso I have since my glorious return. I've taken a year off espresso for various...

I like to be able to brew into two glasses/mugs at the same time, normally when I make coffee it's for a few people at a time. Even so, if I can't get 21g into a 21g basket, I'm not sure that I'd get 15g into a 15g basket. Probably too hard. I'll give that a crack.

Good thinking - just checked them against a ยฃ2 coin and an iPhone. They're accurate enough. It has 21g written on it, so I'm pretty sure. I suppose I could get more in if I do that but frankly I'd rather not.

I'm using a Brewtus DB with a 21g VST basktet and a Eureka Zenith 65E. In order to get 21g of coffee in the basket, I need to grind so fine it takes about 60 seconds to begin extraction. To get a reasonable quantity in a reasonable period of time I end up grinding about 14g... I've tried a...

And a quick cafe review, Casa Sucre, Panama City. Good tamales, wifi, air conditioning, great coffee!

As some of you might know I'm in the Royal Navy (which is why I don't post so often for weeks/months at a time...) I thought I'd post about the coffees I'm trying while I'm away. First country of note: PANAMA! I've so far tried Kotowa and Finca Lerida. Currently using wifi in a cafe serving...

What's modest? Baratza Encore gives you some flex to expand to other brew types in the future.

I like to steam milk then pull shot, I find the milk pours better after a 20 second rest. The only thing to avoid is the pump coming on to refill the steam boiler while pulling the shot as this causes a pressure drop at the group. Edit: hah, simultaneous! I have noticed a potential for a real...

Interesting. My logic is that extraction occurs at 9 bar. The extraction before the pump starts to kick in is only occuring at 1 bar so 4 seconds of that doesn't seem like it would count in the order of things.
  20. Expobar Forum
From lever up to the change in pitch in the pump and a rise in pressure is about 4 seconds. From that to the first drips of espresso coming out is another 6 seconds or so. When does extraction start? I've been timing 25s from the change in pressure and everything tastes fine. Just curious to...
