A quick rummage has unearthed a 20 gr basket, which I'm loading with 18 gr. The reduced amount hasn't detracted from the taste. The pour is still 27 gr/ml.

yes Jackspro, your tip has resolved the problem. After locking, I was indeed getting an indent from a penny. I've reduced my grind weight by 2gr and shot weight down to 27gr and no more messy s/screen. Thanks again.

Thanks jackspro, a quick Google lists machines suitable for the VST baskets. I'll email VST and check if it's suitable for the Zaffiro. Quite a big price difference between IMS and VST

Ah that's a handy link and vid. I have an 18 year old Isomac Zaffiro, I don't know if it has a 3 way electric solenoid (I guess not)?. I'm using the double basket which came with the machine. You could probably get an 18gr load into before tamping.

Thx again Jackspro and El Carajillo. Just to recap, I'm getting 25gr/ml of coffee from a 16gr load. I've just replaced both the upper and middle valves and the backflush is now ok. I'm not sure how the backflush works (I guess it's mechanical) does it use the residual 10 bar of pressure to suck...

I've had good service from my 18 year Isomac Zaffiro but I started to get puddles on top of pucks, due to group not backflushing. Stripping and cleaning didn't work but I did notice a lot of wear on upper valve. So I replaced both upper and middle valves. Now backflushing great but it drags the...

Thanks El carajillo, yes there's no water discharge from the bottom of the group and the pull lever is very stiff. Ok, I tried 3 gr of Caffisa thru' a blank basket but no joy. I guess I'll search for E61 strip-down threads, as you suggest.

Thanks Jackspro, yes I'm getting a max of 30 ml from a 16 gr load. I've just tried your shot with a blank but still no flow. Pressure gage showed the usual 10 mb. So not sure whether he problem is electrical, mechanical or maybe a blockage. Is the Group easy to take apart?

I went through an Aeropress Phase (as you do) which meant that my machine hasn't been used for a year. My grind is ok as I'm getting a 25 second shot from 16 grams. The problem is - no water is coming down the relief tube into the tray, at the end of the shot. Any ideas please? Regards Paul.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've got a 'Hottop' and a Hearthware Precision roaster. I've been struggling to get constant shots with these roaster for 15 years, so lately I've been buying pre-roasted, which seems to do the trick.
