Cool, enjoy your new Aeropress and Porlex.

Number of steps. First-off I was thinking that it's good to make steps as clear as possible, but then reading it back I thought "I've put in so many steps it looks daunting and makes it sound more difficult than it actually is." I'm going to edit to make simpler after Chrimbo. I'll Google the...

All fair points, and I suppose that I am posting in the 'Barista skills' boards so should expect people to be passionate about their kit/coffee! Challenge on methods is always good so thanks for taking the time to share

Cheers for the response Saftlad. I was justing thinking of using it as a pour over, cool that you've tried it. What's the taste like doing it that way? I'm just about to buy a V60 pour over so might try and comparison between that and an Aeropress used as a pour over. Porlex - have you ever...

Hi coffeechap - Ron kindly pointed out writer error (was meant to be 60ml, now corrected). I get what you're saying: that the equipment I'm using has limits. However, I'd say that it's important to work in the real world and focus on taste. Real World. I can't afford a more expensive...

Hi Anthony, looks like you've received loads of good advice already but just in case it's useful here's my method for a double espresso: http://beanmeupscotty.com/2013/12/03/espresso-at-home/

There are so many coffee beans out there I couldn't recommend just one, rather that you explore some of the roasters in the UK. I can help with roasters in London, I've trialled several and added them to a Google map (I think most/all of them deliver): http://goo.gl/maps/1l8ZE

Is anyone about to get an Aeropress and looking to find out how to use it? Or just looking to try out new methods? I've been using an Aeropress for a couple of years now, and went to a coffee brewing masterclass last week so decided to pull together what I've learned so far in a blog post. If...

On the 'paper-taste' front, I use one paper filter per bag of beans (just rinsing in between uses) - that might help? I've also been using the following method for the last couple of months and it's my favourite so far - from a coffee roaster called 'Workshop' (sort of) in Farringdon, London -...

Hi Autopilot - I'm collecting methods from roasters & baristas, here's the first I got from Terrone coffee (Southern Italy and London): http://blog.scottcolfer.com/2013/03/23/aeropress-coffee-terrone/

Cool, I'm going to buy some bigger baskets and try them out in that case.

Hi Lisselle - there are loads of people on here who can help with your coffee, I'm sure you'll find lots of useful info. Tea: I've recently 'got into' tea through coffee. Someone told me that I could use my French Press/Cafetiere to brew tea and (providing you clean it well between coffees and...

I'd like to trial the use of 21g ground coffee for a double espresso (recommended by Caravan in London) . . . but my current non-pressurised basket takes 17.5g max. My questions: has anyone tried this 20-22g La Marzocco basket in a Gaggia Classic? Will it even fit...

Ha - Lots of people I make coffee for don't care what it tastes like, they just want it to look pretty

Just wanted to say that thanks to all of your help & advice in the forums I've now replaced the pressurised basket and steam wand on my Gaggia Classic and my espresso (& flat whites) are much better as a result. Here's the first coffee I made for my girlfriend on the modified machine: Cheers!

Mike (film maker from Dead Ready Productions, who kindly made this film with me) used 1 camera but took several takes with different lengths shots that he subsequently edited together.

Cheers Michael - I'll try capping the cafetiere with the lid next time, good tip.
