Is the boiler in this machine not aluminum? I took it apart to descale it and change the gasket and it looked pretty similar to the classic boilers I've seen.

Did you ever resolve this? Perhaps your pump has lost its prime and needs priming again?

I believe he acted as a consultant on the Eagle One, so I'd imagine he may have been given it.

Thanks. I did see the fuse on a newer model Coffee wiring diagram and was wondering if mine should have one. Where would be the best place to attach it? The OWC's look awesome, they were manufactured in the early 80s right? Do you know when Coffees like mine were being made?

Hi, I bought this Coffee Gaggia a few weeks ago and I was wondering if anybody could give me any more information on it? It is pretty much like later Coffee models (no Solenoid, OPV etc), but has the same external housing as the classic. It is also very similar looking to the this one posted...

Thank you Rob, I know about purging. I was recently given this machine by a friend and am giving it a clean and refurb.

Hi, I need to remove the tip of the steam wand from this Krups machine to descale it properly, but it is totally scaled up tight. Any suggestions on how I could remove it, would soaking it in something help to loosen it? Thanks

Yeah it does in that second one, but the longer the pump runs the more it becomes like in the first video, so I'm quite concerned about the consistency of the flow throughout the duration of a shot. I'll get hold of some o ring gaskets and see if it improves things, will keep you posted...

I'm not using anything yet, but do have an unpressurised basket and tamper on order from Edesia coming next week. Here is a shot I took prior to the last one. As you'll see it does disperse a bit more evenly to begin with at least.

Thank you. Sorry for the stupid question, but I take it I would put that on the outside of the filter under the screwhead?

A few weeks ago a friend gave me a Krups model 888 combi espresso/filter machine. I've had a bit of a tinker with it, including cleaning the grouphead and de-clogging the holes in the showerhead, but I've noticed that when you start the pump water soon begins to channel right down the centre...

Definitely, they roast some great coffee, lovely people as well. The Leicester scene as a whole is very underrated! The Coffee Counter are also doing big things: a new offsite roastery, a newly renovated basement space, and a La Marzocco Strada going in for after the lockdown.

Have you done any barista training? If not maybe post lockdown it might be worth considering.

Interesting. Their Brazilian Love Affair is very dark indeed, and I tend to opt for the guest roast espresso if I ever happen to find myself at the one here in Leicester. The shops generally are pleasant spaces - I've visited the Nottingham shops also - and the coffee is noticeably better than...

Nice! Got mine a few weeks ago, probably one of the best things I've ever unboxed!

Well I have to say that since getting the Comandante is has become an awful lot easier! I guess it's just that you have more variables with a V60 than something like an Aeropress, and things are a bit more difficult to control/keep consistent. Pour rate/shape for instance.

What are people thoughts on 200 Degrees, as before lockdown they seemed poised to start taking over the UK as the first "third wave" chain?

Hey, I Thought I might revive this thread as I've recently started a fortnightly IMM subscription, so here goes! IMM #608 - COSTA RICA FINCA LICHO YELLOW HONEY VILLA SARCHI I cupped this yesterday (3 days post-roast) and it was a very enjoyable experience indeed. My wife made me cup it...

My wife made me cup it blind and literally taped some paper over the tasting notes and handed me the bag! Below is what I wrote during the cupping. I didn't really pick up on the almond/frangipane, but I especially enjoyed the interplay between the sharp acidity (blackcurrant), the biscuity...
