Definitely give a longer shot a try.
I do find lighter roasts tend to sit anywhere between 1:2.5 and 1:4

Not all beans can be brewed at 1:2, if you can't grind any finer, try pulling to a longer ratio. The more liquid you extract the more...

A light roast will be harder to grind as they are generally more dense, and need a comparatively finer grind setting to a medium roast...
